Home cleaning hack- Lint rollers to clean lampshades

Updated: Mar 26

Just a quick tip here on a very easy and efficient way to get that dust off of your lampshades. Don’t ever use cleaner and wipe a linen shade. All that’s gonna do is smudge all that dust into the shade and make it look worse. You need to pick that lint off and the easiest way to do that is with a lint roller.

They look like this and can be ordered here very inexpensively on Amazon. Just click that grey Lint Roller button under the pictures of the lint rollers.

So all you’re gonna do is take your lint roller and gently roll it all over that lampshade.

Make sure to check your lint roller frequently as most likely it won’t stay sticky for long. I do this about every six months as that way the lint doesn’t build up.

I just walk room to room and roll all the shades in the house. It really doesn't take that long and makes a big difference. You don't want the dust accumulating in you rooms. Not only do your lamps look better, but who wants to sleep next to dusty lamps?

Lampshades are expensive and when you find a good one that you like, it’s so easy to take care of it. This is another thing that you should set a timer in your phone for every six months. Now on an i-phone this is so simple, but you may be thinking that there is no option for a 6 month reminder. True! I set the reminder for every 180 days, which is 6 months.

My phone looks like this:

When you set the reminder in your phone, it takes all the thinking out of of it. You simply get notified that morning hey roll those lampshades real quick and they’ll stay looking good as new. I might’ve been there and I do know this.
