Homemade Italian sub to feed a crowd

Going out to pick up sandwiches for the family or a group of friends doesn’t cost what it used to. For us having a family of six going out to just sandwiches can certainly add up to a hefty price tag. Heading to Jersey Mike’s and a sandwich will set you back over $14 per sandwich. This post is to show you a quick hack to feed your family or your kids friends for a fraction of the price.

Head over to your local store and purchase a loaf of fresh French bread. I like the wide French bread so that it makes a good sub, but you could do this on french baguette as well.

Slice down the middle and add your toppings. For a turkey club. I like to add good deli-style turkey, bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, some mustard, and then top with some pepper and a little bit of oil and vinegar. For those that like an Italian dressing, you can put that on the side.

If you want to make it like Jersey Mikes, you can put on some oil and vinegar. This is the most popular sub-dressing in the bottle to elevate your sandwich...

Then just slice it into sections. Remember when slicing to work your way out for even cuts.

First cut in the center to cut in half, then cut each one of those halves in the middle, and then finish with cutting those halves in the middle. This will give you equal amounts of pieces.

No if you want to head out and take these on the go, another way to make it just liket the deli is to wrap it up in a sheet of deli paper and then you just place a piece of tape to stick it closed. Here is a link to the deli paper. Its worth the $9 for 100 sheets. It makes it more like store bought and that box of 100 lasts a while!

So beyond easy, so beyond simple. Make one or two of these, and not only will you save so much money, but it is a timesaver as well. No debating over which deli to go to, no debating if they can order a fountain drink, lunch has been served in a take-it-or-leave-it style. If you want to say some dough, sometimes that’s just how you've gotta roll.

I might’ve been there, I certainly know that.

Mama
