Homemade scarecrows, Super simple and very inexpensive

So for our fall decor, particularly Halloween, I think scarecrows add a very fun and large statement. This is a real quick tutorial on how to make cool scarecrows that are so much better than store-bought and are very inexpensive to make.

  • You’re going to need two pieces of leftover wood in order to make the one small standing piece as well as the shorter piece.

  • Two screws to form that T shape for the base of your scarecrow

  • Some old jeans and an old long sleeve shirt. Button up works best, but use what you have.

  • Free newspapers to stuff your scarecrows

  • Any sort of mask that you have leftover from Halloween or you could even use a dollar store plastic pumpkin to make a pumpkin head scarecrow.

  • If you have some hay to shove in the hands and feet area along with coming out of the top of where the mask and the shirt meet. If you do not have Hay use sticks leaves again get creative so that you don’t spend much money.

That’s literally all you need. Again, very inexpensive big impact decoration.

Now get the family involved and have some fun making these scarecrows as you wad up newspaper to make a scarecrow.

Once the season is over and you’re done with the decoration, it is a very easy storage item. You can shove the clothes into the head of the mask or bucket and keep it for next year. Or being that it wasn’t very expensive, you can just start over next year and make a new version of your Halloween scarecrows. If you wanted this to last beyond Halloween and into the fall, it’s very easy to transition and rather than use a mask just use that pumpkin head and give it a happy face.

I’m a huge fan of using things that you already have to make seasonal decor. Especially when it comes to things like scarecrows, why would you go out and spend your money on something that looks pretty cheesy when you can make it yourself with things that you already have at home and it looks 100% better and costs less. These scarecrows fit that bill and its a fun activity for the family to get involved in. I have certainly been there and I do know that.
