How to wash your shoes

If there's a pet peeve I have, it's dirty shoes. I can't stand when shoes are super dirty. With 4 kids and a husband who works in construction, dirty shoes creep into my house all the time. I don't want to throw them away, so I simply wash them. I'm talking athletic shoes as well as Vans, Converse and Nikes. With my girls, they know that if they leave their shoes out, they are fair game for me to throw in the washer.

Not only do shoes get dirty on the daily on the outside of the shoe, but the shoe funk on the inside is certainly a real thing! If you know, you know. So, did you even know that you can machine wash you shoes? I've been washing shoes for years! I simply throw the dirty shoes in with whatever color wash I'm doing. White tennis shoes can go in with a load of whites, black converse can go in with a load of darks.

Now, I never throw them in the dryer. I think if there's ever been a shoe washing mishap, the dryer would be the culprit. I repeat... DO NOT THROW SHOES IN THE DRYER!

So how do you dry your shoes you wonder? Well you can simply put them outside to air dry, but if your afraid of the sun bleaching them or you are short on time, you can buy one of these shoe dryers that work really well.

This is what my shoe dryer looks like:

You can buy the one I have here on Amazon:

This shoe dryer works great! Not only does it dry the shoes, it has a function that takes the stink out of shoes. Put that baby on and simply walk away. And no it does not make the room stink when in use.

I use it on all kinds of shoes...

So there you have it, a quick mama tip on how to make your shoes clean again. Whether they are dirty from just everyday use, or they walked through a mud puddle, machine washing shoes has worked great for me. I certainly have been there, and I do know that.

Xo,

Mama
